Positive Space Brainstorming Meeting
Friday, May 15, 2015
80 Princess Street,
the yoga studio across from
Harper’s and The Sleepless Goat
What do you need from our queer and trans* community?
*Queer and trans includes, but is not limited to, people who self-identify as lesbian, bisexual, gay, queer, questioning, transgender, transsexual, intersex, two-spirit.
“What do you need from our queer and trans community” is the focus question. There have been a few meetings around Kingston in the past couple years. One concern has been about the need to educate businesses and organizations on how to be positive and respectful toward queer and trans people. Another concern is that there is no hub, no organization that acts as a resource and activities centre for the queer and trans population in Kingston.
What do you want to see happen in Kingston? Where do you think we need to go with this? Is there enough interest within our community to create an organization or service that will continue for generations?
This is a brainstorming meeting, so all ideas and suggestions are welcome.
Julian Gregory is facilitating. This meeting is a safe and loving place for people of all races, genders, sexualities, abilities, economic status, religions, ages, and ethnicities.
The door is locked at 6pm. Email me if you know you’ll be late. We’ll open it for you.
Spend 5 minutes before you come to this meeting, answering the focus question:
What do you need from our queer and trans community?
Or, spend more than five minutes: journal about it, make art or a collage (and bring it to show-and-tell, if you like). Then we will all have deeply pondered the idea, and come to the meeting with a better sense of our needs and wants. See you there.
